Estate Planning Practice Group
The Estate Planning Practice Group works closely with the firm’s clients (individuals as well as businesses) to design and implement estate plans that achieve the client’s goals of asset distribution among beneficiaries in a tax effective manner.
In addition to working directly with the firm’s clients, the Estate Planning Group typically works in conjunction with the client’s other financial and planning professionals in order to maintain a coordinated approach throughout the estate planning process.
Unlike many law firms, Estate Planning is an integral element of our firm’s practice. As a result, lawyers in the Estate Planning Group work closely with other firm attorneys, including members of the Business Practice Group, Professional Practices Group, Employee Benefits Group and Taxation Group. Among other matters, Estate Planning attorneys are often involved in the structuring of new businesses, the creation and implementation of business succession plans and the establishment of employee benefit plans.
Charitable Giving is often an important component of our clients' estate plans. As a result, members of the Estate Planning Group have developed an expertise in all types of charitable giving including the creation of Charitable Remainder Trusts, Charitable Lead Trusts, Private Foundations and the use of Donor Directed Funds through local Community Foundations.
