The New York State Bar Association announced that on August 31, 2015 Governor Andrew Cuomo signed an e-filing bill into law “which vests authority in the Chief Administrative Judge to implement mandatory e-filing in any court.” Until now, only certain courts and certain types of actions had a mandatory e-filing requirement. With the signing of the bill, the Chief Administrative Judge, with the consent of the County Clerks, has greater flexibility to mandate e-filing with the ability to bypass legislative authority.
